Divorce for Kids!!!!
Author: Lee-Ann McClure

By eight years old Sarah's world had already been turned upside down.

It all began when her Dad started to stay out with his mates drinking till the early hours of the morning, and when he did come home he just fought with her mum. To keep Sarah away form the arguments the decision was made that she should go and live with he grandparents at least until her parents had separated. Eventually her Dad moved out after having physically and emotionally abusing her mother, but it was seven years before Sarah came back to live with her mum. The divorce eventually went through on the grounds of Adultery, yet the primary reason for the divorce was Sarah's dad's Alcohol addiction, enabling Sarah and her Mum to pick up the pieces of their lives.

Although Sarah spent seven happy years with her Grandparents she always had wanted to be kept informed as to what was happening with her parents. Sarah eventually told her mum she understood her Dads addiction but was still worried about some things. If they had talked sooner, Sarah's Mum would have been saved from needless worry and anxiety, For example concerning the issue of visitation, which Sarah didn't want.

The Divorce itself was not the problem for Sarah in and of itself; rather it was more that fact that her Dad had walked out on her and communication had ended with her mum.

Today Sarah's Mum has met some one she loves, but Sarah is very cautious of men as she does not want to end up just like her mum- in the Divorce courts!!!
