Temptation....

She glanced up. People were going about their business, a woman with a pushchair and a howling child, an old man sitting on a park bench munching his sandwiches and some lads on their skateboards showing off to a group of giggling girls. No one was watching her. No-one had noticed it sitting there in the sunlight, inviting her to pick it up. She reached out hesitantly, but then pulled her hand back, looking up again. No, you see, it was probably a test, someone had planted it there and even now, they were watching her. But the woman with the child had gone, the old man was asleep and half the sandwich had dribbled down his shirt and the skateboarding was taking all the girls attention.


 
Her hands began to sweat, she rubbed them on her trousers. How much money was in it? "Have a look." What if there was a name? An address? "Have a look, pick it up!" A new stereo, a playstation, some CD's, a micro scooter...or maybe just a packet of fags and a choccy bar...She couldn't believe she was thinking that, surely she should take it to the police, but why? What would she get from that? "Thank you very much, goodbye!" but if she kept it, no-one would know, would they? "PICK IT UP!"


She checked her surroundings once more, the old man hadn't stirred, the girls were loosing interest. Slowly, she reached out her hand...
